What are you made of?

In the previous post we learnt what is the end-goal of Yoga in the Samadhi Pada. Patanjali explains what a practitioner achieves when he reaches the Nirodha state : a state of pure connectedness, joy.

Pramana viparyaya vikalpa nidra Smriti

Pramana: correct knowledge. Truth

Viparyaya: incorrect knowledge. Misconception

Vikalpa: Confusion, deception, delusions

Nidra : Sleep

Smriti: memories

Pratyakṣānumānāgamāḥ pramāṇāni.

Prakyaksha : the knowledge that you experience with your senses. There is no inference. What you see is the real truth. For example we see sun so I know there is sun and it gives us sunlight.. but do we know earth is revolving or rotating... We don't know.. only science gives evidence..

Anumana : inference.. you see something then since don't know complete truth  you infer based on what your senses have passed the information.

You see a person with stubble face , you infer that he is not happy or upset or sober in life. It's your inference but that may not be true..

Same goes with person who has happy..

Inference often leads to judgement.. most of the time it's wrong judgement..  this is cause of major conflicts in families and social circles

Agama : the knowledge based on scriptures. In BG Krishna talks about his presence in every element of the nature.

If the proof is provided by authoritative source, then it's the right knowledge.

Be it Upanishads for your spiritual upliftment or any technical document
